To encourage people to shop in Your Pontypridd this festival season, the BID Christmas begins on 24th November as we launch the #SelfieswithSanta give away, come and see Santa in our shops, get a selfie and pick up a FREE goody bag on the dates/times at the following shops below:

24th November – Soulsby Opticians 11-2pm

1st December – Valley Sports 10am-12pm

12th December – The Tumble Inn 4pm-6pm

15th December – Get Connected 10am-12pm


£1000 Prize Draw returns with #PresentsinPonty competition

The £1000 Prize Draw return with an new twist #PresentsinPonty, all you have to do is spend £10 take a picture of your presents and gifts post them on Facebook , Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #PresentsInPonty and be in with a chance of winning great prizes between the following dates!

19th of November and 1st of December - Win a Nintendo Switch & Pokemon Let's Go edition bundle courtesy of Your Pontypridd and GAME (Winner annnounced on the 3rd of December)

3rd and 15th of December – Win a break courtesy of Signature or a gifts bundle courtesy of Warren James, H Samuel & Boots (Winner announced on the 17th of December)


There are some great independent and national retailers in Pontypridd with great gifts for all the family and all you need to do is pick up a leaflet in participating retailers.

Christmas Window Competition

We’re also running the Christmas Window competition for the second year running to find the best dressed window in Pontypridd this Christmas and there will some great windows to choose from.

We’re launching the long list on 19th November and asking the BIDs social media followers to vote for the top 5 and then we’re inviting three teams of two judges to spending an evening visiting each buisnes taking part and picking the best window. The winner will be announced the week beginning the 10th December and presentation of the trophy will follow.

Black Friday & Small Business Saturday

Black Friday is on 23rd November this year and you find all the great sales on www.yourpontypridd.co.uk

That’s followed on 1st December by Small Business Saturday and we’re asking you to pledge to spend £10 in any independent businesses in Pontypridd on #SmallBizSatUK to show your support for local shops, café’s and restaurants

Pontypridd Christmas Lights Switch On 17th November 2018

Pontypridd Town Council’s Annual Christmas Lights switch on is taking place from 2.00pm – 6.00pm and Santa will be in his Grotto from 12pm – 5.30pm!

There’s lots going on including Santa in his Grotto, Synthetic Ice-rink, aSnow Globe to play and get a FREE photo!! Ice Prince and Ice Princess Stilt Walkers, Reindeer and Mobile Screen showing “The Polar Express plus GTFM roadshow.

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project.
