Dream of buying your first home but not sure where to start? Take the first steps in your journey at Santander's first time buyer event.

They will take you through all the key parts of purchasing your first home, and trained colleagues are on hand to answer any questions you might have along the way.

Buying a home for the first time can be a daunting experience, so we break your journey down into three manageable stages:

1. Planning your route

Here you’ll learn how to get your finances in order, your buying options and understanding your position. Find out how much you can borrow and learn how to use a mortgage calculator to explore your best options.

2. Finding your destination

Then we look more specifically at what kind of home you want and your preferred locations.

You’ll also learn how and where to get your mortgage - including other banks, building societies, brokers or estate agents. We’ll explain all your options so you can make the best decision for you.

3. Arriving at your home

Finally, we explore the process of moving into your first home. This covers everything from the valuation and survey to the exchange of contracts and the legal work involved with your purchase.

There will be time after the session for you to ask trained colleagues any questions you might have about the process.

YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.

All applications are subject to status and lending criteria.

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project. Please see the video below from South Wales Police Twitter page showing Hannah's reaction to receiving the award:
