Hope Rescue Charity Shop successfully defended their title as Your Pontypridd's 'Best Dressed Christmas Window' winning both the hearts of the public and the judges in a resounding victory. Hope Rescue faced strong competition this year with twenty one businesses participating in the public vote compared to six last year but Hope Rescue came out on top once again with another fantastic display created by their extremely dedicated group of volunteers.

Store Manager Stuart Burnell was delighted to win the competition again and said;

“To win this competition for the second year running is a special achievement. The volunteers worked so hard to make the window as Christmassy as possible and I am very proud of the results. We have had so many positive comments from our customers, and it has made all the effort that we put in, worthwhile.

One of the main purposes of the charity shop is to raise awareness of Hope Rescue, and the work we do to care for the stray dogs of South Wales. Competitions like these can only help as more people become aware of our wonderful charity. We would just like to thank Your Pontypridd BID and everyone who voted for our window this year, we really appreciate it. It was great this year to see more shops taking part and all the windows looked amazing. Hopefully the competition will continue to grow and we’re looking forward to taking part again next year"

The competition yet again proved to be a major success on social media reaching over 20,000 people across all Your Pontypridd platforms, hundreds voted for their favourite window and encouraged their family and friends to join in the fun. The twenty one businesses were shortlisted to six after two weeks of an exciting public vote - Hope Rescue, Leek and Weston, Gwynns Opticians, Amplified Studio, Vodafone & Hoskins Johnson each came up with very creative and innovative displays which would be later judged by Gavin Powell ( Promotions Manager of GTFM), Lynda Davies (Pontypridd Town Council Mayor), Becky Davies & Heloise Godfrey-Talbot (Lecturers in Creative and Therapeutic Arts at University of South Wales), Margaret Hughes (Chair of Your Pontypridd BID) & Alan Humphreys (Chair of Your Pontypridd Marketing Commitee).

Becky Davies & Heloise Godfrey-Talbot (Lecturers in Creative and Therapeutic Arts at University of South Wales)were impressed by the eventual winners Hope Rescue and said "This display utilised the whole window space (in both windows) to create impact when viewed at a distance. Upon closer inspection, we enjoyed the innovative and resourceful use of materials, particularly the dog bone wreath and extensive use of recycled / upcycled / second-hand items. This is a quintessential Christmas morning scene which, despite its resourceful approach, does not compromise on aesthetic quality and its cohesive concept. Equally, we would like to applaud the seamless integration of the shoebox charity scheme for dogs. The effort of the volunteers is evident throughout this ‘feelgood’ display"

The BID would like to thank everyone invovled in making the competition possible, Your Pontypridd BID Manager said "Congratulations to Hope Rescue on winning the competition for the second year in a row, and well done to all the businessses who participated and made Pontypridd sparkle this Christmas, we would look forward to running the competition again next year"
