Locals and music fans delighted as Your Pontypridd brought back memories with Summer Music Saturdays

We would like to thank everyone who attended each event with people from Cardiff, Newport, Carmarthen, Brecon, Treorchy, Rhondda, Merthyr, Caerphilly and Bargoed as well as locals from Pontypridd!

The three concerts promoted local bands and solo artists from South Wales, all of which whom said they thoroughly enjoy performing in the iconic venue of the Bandstand in Ynysangharad Park and would come come back to do it again next year. Many thanks to Classic Intentions, The Lonely Hearts Club Band, Ellis Millard, Cheryl Roberts, The Stavz Band & The Stoned Apes!

We would also like to thank everyone who got involved sharing the event on social media, and helping to promote the event throughout the town. Thank you to our Volunteers who gave out leaflets promoting the events in town during the week before the event, thanks to all the shops and businesses who let us put a poster in their windows and allowed us to drop off leaflets.

A big thank you to the RCT parks team who supported us in each event, and provided the venue and electricity free of cost. This was a positive event that has helped promote the Your Pontypridd BID brand, it was superb to see the wonderful bandstand in use once again and to see people singing and dancing along to the music!

We would also like to say thanks to our Board members Maggie Hughes, Angela Cavil, Joe Gambarini and Steve Carter for attending and supporting our Summer Music Saturday’s and to Sean Hayes from Boots for providing the gift cards for our competition winners who answered questions about Pontypridd in between the acts on the 24th of June.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, or if you would like to see music in the bandstand again next year, or if you feel you would like to contribute or take part in a future event involving the bandstand, please submit all comments and feedback to james@yourpontypridd.co.uk or contact 01443 244190.

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project. Please see the video below from South Wales Police Twitter page showing Hannah's reaction to receiving the award:
