Celebrate National Vegetarian Week by visiting these places in Your Pontypridd!

Eat Out Vegan Wales rescheduled event at The Muni Arts Centre takes place this Saturday between 11am and 4pm!

There will be lots to try including vegan street food to eat in or takeaway, cakes and sweet treats!


Visit the Muni Cafe to check out their vegetarian options inluding: homemade hummus board which includes vegetable sticks, olives & a bread roll, vegetable curry & rice (gluten free), vegetable chilli with rice or jacket potato (gluten free), jacket potato & beans (gluten free) and beans on toast. The soups vary weekly and some are vegan such as roasted sweet potato & carrot and roasted red pepper & butternut squash; but do always check they are suitable with a member of staff. Sandwiches/toasties/panini can be made to order with homemade hummus & chutneys. They can provide a vegan side salad. Soya milk is stocked for drinks.

Organic Wholefoods and Homebrew

Visit Organic Wholefoods & Hombrew at 8 Mill Street to check out their wonderful range of vegetarian goods including chocolate and much much more!

Soul Spice

Visit Soul Spice in Pontypridd Market and try their wonderful range of vegetarian meals this week. From curry boxes, to burritos, enjoy their unique blend of spice and plant based food, made fresh in front of you, check out their vast range of spices and herbs which are also available to buy.

The Quality Tandoori

Pontypridd's Quality Tandoori provide a few vegetarian options, inform the staff there that you are a vegetarian and they will happily go through the Menu to point out the vegetarian options!

The Tumble Inn

The Tumble Inn on Broadway, Pontypridd has several vegetarian options for breakfast and lunch! Visit them in a cosy setting opposite Pontypridd Train Station

Lidl Pontypridd

Visit Lidl Pontypridd at Millfield Depot and enjoy their range of vegetarian goods. Visit their website to see a range of vegetarian recipes that can be made with goods with from the Lidl store

The Chain House

Pontypridd's newest cafe and restaurant The Chain House provides many vegetarian options on their breakfast, lunch and evening menus!

Ffresh Greengrocers & Stokes Greengrocers

Visit Ffresh Greengrocers on Taff Street and Stokes Greengrocers on Fraternal Parade to get all your fresh vegetables you need to make a delicious vegetarian meal this week!

The Blueberry Inn

Visit The Blueberry Inn on Market Street, they cater for vegetarians with limited options but they will changes dishes if needed. The suitable dishes on the lunch menu are minestrone soup and tomato & basil bruschetta as starters and penne arrabiata and patatas bravas for mains. They can also make the pizzas cheese-less. Some other pasta dishes can be ordered without cream and made with, for example, tomato sauce instead if requested. Vegan starters on the a la carte menu are antipasti di verdure (without the mozzarella), soup and fritto misto. The risotto con funghi (without truffle cream) and penne arrabiata can be served as starters or mains. There can also prepare the pizzas on this menu without cheese and have sorbet for dessert.

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project.
