County Borough's £26.5m investment aims to make significant improvements for Pontypridd's traffic flow

Access to Pontypridd becomes easier, thanks to the junction improvements by RCT Council, which started on the 6th of March 2017 along the Broadway Road, to ease queuing and congestion. The County Borough's investment of £26.5m for HIghways, Transporation, Infrastructure and Strategic Projects aims to improve traffic flows, reduce congestion and delays for businessesresidents, businesses and motorists that use Pontypridd's highways infrastructure on a daily basis.
An additional investment of £65,000 will be spent on widening the busy junction and providing an additional right turn lane on to the A4058 heading towards the A470 (Sainsbury’s).The works are expected to last around 5 weeks and will also see new pedestrian detectors incorporated into the traffic signal controls.
In order to carry out the works, traffic management will be in place, however in order to minimise disruption, this will only be deployed outside of peak-times.The scheme aims not only to ease the congestion and improve traffic flow, but also to provide a safer environment for pedestrians.
