Pontypridd RFC joins the Your Pontypridd Student Card scheme

Your Pontypridd is delighted to welcome the iconic Pontypridd Rugby Football Club to our successful Student Discount Card scheme which has been running since September 2017 and had over 1,200 subscribers.

Pontypridd Rugby Club is the 35th businesses to offer the growing student population in the Pontypridd area a deal which includes discounted tickets and a free beer on match days at the famous Sardis Road ground.

The new offer launched today comes ahead of Saturday’s Principality Premier match with local rivals Cardiff RFC, kick off is at 2.30 at Sardis Road. It’s a fixture with lots of history that always produces memorable moments.

Peter Howells, Finance Director at Pontypridd RFC said “ We are delighted to be involved with Your Pontypridd Student Discount Card Scheme. With the University Of South Wales on our doorstep Sardis Road is a great venue for students. Some of USW’s sport teams already use our 3G pitch facility and we are delighted to expand our involvement to more of the student population . “

He continued “The student discount card scheme is an excellent project and we are delighted to partake in the scheme. For an admission charge of only £8 students can catch an exciting game of rugby and get a free pint. What better way to start our involvement with the scheme than to watch our local derby game this coming Saturday, 5th May against Cardiff with your free pint and cheer on the boys!”

This is the first announcement of a new, exciting and hopefully long partnership between Pontypridd’s Business Improvement District and Pontypridd Rugby Club both working to change perception of the town and its businesses.

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project.
