Your Pontypridd Business Improvement District have responded to levy payers calls for a business crime reduction scheme by committing funding to the RCT Business Crime and Reduction Partnership.

Projects Officer James Payne said: “Local businesses will be reassured to know that the BID is supporting the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), and will encourage businesses to make use of the exclusion scheme which bans repeat offenders from entering all members’ premises for a minimum three month period. This will help businesses report crime and strengthen our relationship with the Pontypridd Neighbourhood Policing Team”

The funding from Your Pontypridd will give levy payers free membership of the current Pubwatch and Shopwatch schemes in place for 2020/2021. The Pontypridd Pubwatch was recognised as 'highly commended' at the National Pubwatch Awards in 2019 at the prestigious award ceremony & dinner in the House of Lords in Westminster. Once members have signed to the BCRP they will recieve access to the ‘Litorallis Disc app’ and will be able to attend meetings to record and report incidents which need to be logged on the DISC system. Dates, times and locations of these meetings will be sent to BCRP members after they sign up.

Businesses wishing to sign up to the BCRP can email RCT BCRP Co-Ordinator Mike Jacklin on co-ordinator@rct-mtbcrp.com or contact Your Pontypridd BID Projects Officer James Payne - james@yourpontypridd.co.uk

Please note that membership of the BCRP is not open to the general public and free membership of the BCRP will be given to BID businesses who have paid their levy bills. The BCRP does not replace South Wales Police. Always report emergencies to the relevant emergency services.

There will be a drop in session this Thursday at The Blueberry Inn between 3pm and 5pm if businesses wish to collect and fill in a form to sign up to BCRP. There will be a chance to raise any issues you have regarding town centre crime with representatives from South Wales Police, the BID and RCT BCRP. The Neighborhood Policing Team will be in attendance to discuss the opportunity of setting up and joining a Neighborhood Watch.

If businesses have any questions about any of the points above please contact james@yourpontypridd.co.uk
