RH Jeffs & Rowe have been serving the community of Pontypridd for more than 100 years, the next generation of accountant’s is embracing new technology and produced an Accountancy App, the first in the Pontypridd BID area, here Elliot Thomas explains all.

Hi Elliot, thank you for talking to us about the RH Jeffs & Rowe App and the business. How did the idea for an App for your accountancy firm come about? And what do you want to achieve with it?

As you mentioned, Jeffs & Rowe has been around for more than 100 years and we intend to make sure It is there for the next 100 years. In order to do this we put a conscious effort into making sure we offer a leading accountancy service for our clients. Introducing the latest technology innovations into our business is just one of our strategies for doing this.

We started by fully embracing cloud-based technology for both our staff and clients, this started with a ‘Platinum Partnership’ with QuickBooks-Online. The obvious next progression for us was to introduce a mobile application that has ‘Quick answers’ for our clients.

We found that the office landline phone would follow ‘trends’ depending on what time of year it is, so we wanted to make it easier for our clients to access the information they need when they need it. We put it in their own hands.

What features are included in the app? And who is the target audience?

The app is quite feature rich which we are thrilled about. There is a lot of general information such as Tax Tables, Key Tax Dates, Tax Tips and News, but then we also have a few ‘smart tools’ such as a ‘Mileage Tracker’ – this tracker you can start when you begin a car journey and end it when you stop. It links to the GPS built into your phone allowing you to easily track mileage for expense claims with your employer. We also have other cool tools such as Tax Calculators and a Currency Converter that links to live real-time exchange rates.

The main audience for the application is first and foremost our existing client base. We always like for our clients to enjoy the fruits of our labour whether it is with technology or any other activity we are doing related to their business. That being said – we are more than happy for non-clients to use the app, who knows, it could even help us attract new national business to our Pontypridd base.

You launched the App quiet recently what has the take up been so far? Do you have any plans to launch/promote the App in the future?

The app hasn’t been live for 1 month yet, however the uptake has been superb! We have been getting lots of great feedback from our clients, and people have even put a few suggestions forward for what they would like to see in there for the future. Watch this space.

What potential do you see for the App over the next few years with the ongoing redevelopment of Pontypridd town centre?

Not just through our application but with technology in general – we are all about the local community and shopping local, especially in Pontypridd. Our business has been engrained into Pontypridd town centre for a very long time, our staff are in the town centre every day getting lunch, shopping, meeting clients, its more than our office base it’s our home. Quite literally for most of our team.

We would love to see other local businesses adopt technology and apps that can help us fill up the high street and keep Pontypridd a thriving local business district.

As a business in Gelliwastad Road, what additional services, support and projects can the Your Pontypridd Business Improvement deliver in the next 6 months to help develop the town’s Professional Services District?

Personally I think the BID has been a great asset to Pontypridd so far and everything is going in the right direction especially the engaging social media accounts promoting local business.

To end, how do you see the BID and R H Jeffs & Rowe working together for mutual benefit and the wider Pontypridd business community in the future?

Our Managing Director, Robert, is heavily involved the Pontypridd BID so we always try to get involved in the local community as much as possible. We would love to see more local business events that promote entrepreneurship, especially within growing sectors such as eCommerce and the Internet world. We are seeing more and more clients in this area every year and would love to help encourage the younger local generation to move into these fields.

Thanks to Elliot for his time, if you have any news, new staff, new products or services or simply a chance to promote your business in our newsletter, please get in touch with the BID via info@yourpontypridd.co.uk
