FREE parking returns to Pontypridd Town Centre throughout December – for the fifth year in a row!

All Council-owned car parks in Pontypridd will once again be FREE to use for residents and visitors from 10am on Saturday, December 1, to encourage more people to enjoy our Town Centres over the Christmas period. This coincides with the Council’s Shop Local campaign, which encourages residents to support local Town Centre traders this Christmas.

Car parks in Pontypridd will be free from 10am each day, throughout the whole month, up until December 31. In Pontypridd, free parking will apply at Gas Road, Goods Yard (Council owned section only), Millfield, Berw Road and Sardis Road car parks.

Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Highays said: "I'm very pleased that free parking is once again returning to our Town Centres in December, as the Council encourages residents to shop local this Christmas."

Following lobbying from the Pontypridd Business Improvement District, the Cabinet agreed to reduce parking charges in Pontypridd Town Centre in April last year, as well as reducing parking in Aberdare and introducing free parking in Tonypandy, Porth and Mountain Ash.

Your Pontypridd BID Manager Victoria Pulman said " We welcome this as an extension of our current parking partnership with RCT Council, we encourage visitors to come discover the delights of Pontypridd in the run up to Christmas. Visitors can look forward to entering our Christmas Prize Draw, seeing Santa on the 1st, 12th and 15th of December and having a final chance to vote for their favourite Christmas Window Competiton this Saturday!

Pontypridd has a lot to offer, and free parking allows visitors the opportunity to discover new businesses that have made Pontypridd their home in the last twelve months"
