The #TownBite returned to Pontypridd last weekend with twenty businesses giving away free samples and showing the amazing tastes that the town has to offer. The Your Pontypridd BID team worked in partnership with the Visit RCT team in Ynysangharad Park to showcase goods from Pontypridd town businesses to thousands of visitors on the first day of the Big Welsh Bite. Visitors in the park could enjoy the famous Princes baked goods including sausage rolls, corned beef slices and welsh cakes (see image above). The stall also displayed goods from the wonderful Organic Wholefoods and Homebrew with their delicious vegan chocolate 'Vego' and Chilli of the Valley 'Saucy Dog' sauce which added even more heat on a scorching day in Ynysangharad Park.

Visitors in the park could also enjoy the wonderful samples of coffee and tea from Cortile Coffee in Pontypridd Market, with many admiring the combination of flavours and smells of the coffee beans. We would also like to thank The Blueberry Inn for kindly donating examples of their home made authentic pizza menu after crowds gathered around the tent to try a piece. The Muni Cafe also gave a taste of what to expect from their menu after their new chef made a batch of rocky road cheesecake which was enjoyed by both visitors in the park and in the Cafe on Gelliwastad Road (see image below). There was more chocolatey treats from Chain House on Bridge Street with visitors blown away by the flavours of their chocolate and almond truffles, the famous Cafe Royale on High Street provided some of the favourites from their menu with many visitors recognising the familiar homeliness of the cafe's foods which included their corned beef slice, home made lasagne and custard slices.

There was great spirit in Pontypridd for the #TownBite with more than fiften businesses getting involved, the Town Bite gave visitors in the town a chance to try a range of foods with everything from falafel bites at Soul Spice to hot wings at Chicken Man, fish and chip tasters at Carinis & Plowmans, Ffresh Greengrocers provided samples of a range of their fresh fruit and visitors could enjoy a refreshing drink at Costa Coffee and Cortile Coffee where fruit flavoured drinks were available to try.

The Town Bite gave Wetherspoons the opportunity to promote their new Welsh Menu, with everything from the warming faggots dish to their fiery dragon curry which added plenty of heat to the Town Bite. On the second day, visitors to the restaurant could enjoy Wetherspoons new Steak and S.A. Brains pie, the pub also promoted Welsh breweries with samples of Boss Brewery's Beetle Juice which gave a refreshing taste to compliment the wonderful food.

We would like to thank all the businesses who were involved in another successful Town Bite and gave everyone the true tastes of Pontypridd, and a special thank you to the Visit RCT team who gave us space on their stall to help promote BID businesses and we hope everyone enjoyed the culinary delights of Pontypridd's best food businesses.
