Students at the Treforest Campus were given a chance to relive the excitement of Freshers Week at the University of South Wales' Refreshers Fair! Your Pontypridd attended as well as number of University clubs and societies at the fair in the Students Union.

The BID team engaged with each club, society and a number of students and talked with a number of University of South Wales staff on a successful day. The Your Pontypridd Student Card features more than thirty offers in the town centre and is aimed at encouraging students to visit the town centre.

There were some very happy students with many keen to use the card, one student in particular hailing the card as "the best thing ever!" and another student praising the card as a brilliant idea. A number of students card were given out, but it was great to see many students already have knowledge of the card and tell us that they regularly visit the town and use the card.

BID Manager Victoria Pulman said: "It was great to be back down at the University of South Wales Treforest Campus to see the impact from the last Freshers Fair, and seeing the enthusiasm for our student card both with new signups and regular users. It was great to meet the Money Advice Centre Team, Student Advice team, lecturers, Student Union representatives and the bar and catering staff"

This is the BID team's second fair since the launch of the Student Card, Princes Restaurant Welsh Cakes went down a storm with the students and staff, and it's great to give them a taste of what Pontypridd has to offer! A big thanks to Eddy the owner of Cafe Fresco, Pontypridd's newest Cafe who donated 50 free coffee leaflets which were snapped up very quickly! It's great to see new businesses be involved with the scheme and benefit from the Refreshers Fair.
