Town Bite makes a tastier return to Pontypridd

Your Pontypridd BID is delighted to be bringing the #TownBite back for the second year in support of Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC’s fantastic #WelshBigBIte Food Festival in Ynysangharad Park next weekend.

The Town Bite will be run on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August in Pontypridd Town Centre from 10am to 2pm and comprises 20 businesses that

range from small independent food shops to national supermarket chains and Pontypridd Market stalls all of which have a unique local food character.

All participating business are offering samples of their tasty sweet and savoury products including fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, delicatessen and locally sourced coffee and tea to name a few available all year round to encourage more of us to shop local and showcase the best of what they sell to visitors.

Our cafés and restaurants are also taking part, a highlight is The Tumble Inn (Wetherspoons) promoting its Welsh menu and local beer from Bragdy Twt Lol and cider maker Gwynt Y Ddraig


We’re delighted to welcome new tastes from The Blueberry Inn’s, Princes Café, Carini’s Fish shop and The Chicken Man’s range of spiced chicken and fresh poultry and The Tumble Inn (Wetherspoons) will be promoting their new Welsh Menu and local breweries, we also welcome back popular business from last year such as Frresh green grocers, Café Royale and vegan restaurant Soul Spice.

Your Pontypridd is pleased to be working with Visit RCT this year and samples of our #TownBite foods will also be available on Saturday 4th August at Visit RCT stall in Ynysangharad Park spreading the reach of TownBite and helping showcase the culinary variety of Pontypridd and the local and international flavour of our town to the thousands attending the Big Welsh Bite.

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project.
